About Abandoned Arkansas
Abandoned Atlas Foundation documents abandoned and historic places across Arkansas, helping readers explore the stories behind buildings and communities that might otherwise be overlooked. Its Arkansas site features more than 300 locations, with photographs and historical information about places throughout the state. Entries span a wide range of categories, including hospitals, schools, churches, hotels, theaters, jails, industrial and commercial sites, homes, railroads, and disappearing towns. Visitors can browse by region or location type, use the travel map, and read recent features on individual properties, such as former schools, houses, and courthouses.
The project also shares videos about abandoned sites and their histories through its YouTube channel, and invites the public to submit locations and contribute to its work. The website offers an Abandoned Atlas book and other ways to support the project. Beyond Arkansas, it connects visitors with related state-focused sites, including Abandoned Alabama, Abandoned Florida, Abandoned Kansas, Abandoned Missouri, and Abandoned Oklahoma, as well as Preserve Arkansas.
