AB AQUA

AB AQUA is a non-profit organization and Italy’s first think tank dedicated to hydrostrategy, the study of water’s strategic role in security, development, and international cooperation. It promotes sustainable water practices through multidisciplinary research, public communication, education, and consultancy. Its work includes in-depth studies, reports, articles, and news on water management and related challenges, alongside academic courses that share research findings with wider audiences. AB AQUA advises institutions, businesses, municipalities, and other stakeholders on hydrostrategic issues.

The organization also creates opportunities for international dialogue through conferences, seminars, workshops, and specialist events, bringing together experts, academics, policymakers, and organizations. Its initiatives address topics such as transboundary water relations, climate resilience, efficient water use, and sustainable resource management. Projects described by AB AQUA include European Erasmus+ education on water sustainability, research into water-loss reduction and irrigation, well construction in Benin, monitoring water-network losses in Mersin, and sustainable desalination in Erdemli, Turkey. Through research, advocacy, and collaboration, AB AQUA works to advance practical solutions and a broader understanding of water as both an essential resource and a strategic tool for cooperation and peace.
