About AbbeyCommntyTheatre
Abbey Community Theatre (ACT) is a vibrant amateur dramatics group located in Northampton, UK, founded in 1983. With a rich history of performances, ACT has brought many diverse plays to the stage, including classics like "The Ghost Train," "Rebecca," and "The Importance of Being Earnest," as well as engaging murder/mystery plays and entertaining pantomimes, such as "Dracula: The Panto," first performed in 2007.
Originally based at Abbey Road Baptist Church, the company moved to the Abbey Centre in 1986, a venue opened by Princess Diana a year later. Under the leadership of chairman Bill Horsley, ACT continues to thrive, welcoming new members eager to act, assist backstage, or support front-of-house operations. The theatre typically stages three productions each year in March, June, and November/December, fostering a passion for quality amateur theatre. Additionally, ACT is committed to community engagement, having donated thousands to local charities through fundraising efforts.
