Abbey Judo

Abbey Judo Club is a community-based martial arts club in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, with a history of more than 40 years. First established at the Valley Leisure Centre, where it was originally known as Valley Judo Club, Abbey provides judo instruction in a warm, friendly, family environment. Its classes welcome people of varying abilities and experience, allowing beginners to learn at their own pace without pressure while developing their skills alongside fellow judoka.

The club offers recreational and competitive judo, with a competitive pathway for members who wish to take part in events across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain and beyond. Training also supports personal development through the study of judo techniques, progression through grades, and continued improvement on the tatami. Abbey presents the club as a place to build confidence, make friends, share experiences and contribute to a supportive community of players, coaches and families. Located at 40 Church Road, Newtownabbey, Abbey Judo Club invites prospective members to get in touch and join a class.
