The Associação de Basquetebol de Braga (AB Braga) has promoted basketball in Portugal’s Braga district since 1988, supporting the sport from grassroots participation to senior competition. Its activities span minibasketball, youth development, district teams, clubs, officials and statistics, with information and resources for players, coaches, clubs and supporters.

Minibasketball is a central focus, with district championships for under-10 and under-12 players, weekend gatherings for ages under 8 to under 12, and district selections that compete in regional and national tournaments. For under-14 to under-18 players, the association organizes boys’ and girls’ district championships and supports clubs progressing to Portuguese Basketball Federation national competitions and cups. It also runs the AB Braga Cup and accredited coach-training courses.

The association promotes 3×3 basketball through district competitions and events, including the BasketArt project, which combines basketball with urban art and encourages healthy lifestyles. It supports referee and statistician development through ongoing training, and coordinates events, competitions and club information. Senior clubs from the district compete nationally, including in wheelchair basketball.
