Aberdeen Judo

Aberdeen Judo Academy is a judo school in Kamloops, British Columbia, founded by Sensei John Huntley in 1987. It teaches official Kodokan Judo to participants of different ages and skill levels, with co-ed programs for juniors aged 12 and under and seniors aged 13 and older. Junior classes introduce basic judo movement through activities designed to be enjoyable, while senior classes explore judo, functional exercise, and self-defense movements.

Instruction is led by experienced coaches, including Sensei Huntley, a seventh-degree black belt and international-level competitor with more than 60 years of judo experience. The academy says its instructors have completed the National Coaching Certification Program and emphasizes safety, proper technique, and learning break-falls. Classes feature planned practice schedules and individual feedback.

Alongside regular training, Aberdeen Judo shares educational videos on YouTube and provides information about events, calendars, and community activities. The academy also highlights opportunities such as KidSport Kamloops grants, which can help eligible families with sport costs. Its stated benefits include quality instruction, self-defense skills, fitness, and a welcoming atmosphere.
