About Abilis-säätiö
Abilis is a Finnish non-governmental organization that provides financial support to grassroots disability organizations and small businesses operating in developing countries. They aim to support the activities of disabled people in these countries by funding projects designed and implemented by them. Their work focuses on promoting the rights, participation, and independent living of disabled women and girls, as well as respecting and advocating for human rights.
Abilis funds approximately 150 projects each year, with the participation of about 25,000 disabled individuals, 60% of whom are women and girls. They provide an average project sum of €8,000 to disabled organizations. Through their projects, Abilis promotes collaboration, knowledge, and skill development among disabled individuals, as well as addressing issues related to women's empowerment, livelihood, and environmental sustainability.
