ABIO Catania

ABIO Catania ODV is a nonprofit association dedicated to supporting children and families during hospital stays. Part of the wider ABIO network, which has assisted children in hospitals since 1978, the Catania organization has been active locally since 1994. More than 150 volunteers serve in four hospitals in the area, contributing to a more welcoming and child-friendly experience in pediatric care.

The association’s work includes volunteer support in hospital wards and initiatives to improve spaces and services for young patients. Recent projects have supported a pediatric emergency department and the furnishing of a playroom in the pediatric bronchopulmonology ward at San Marco Hospital. ABIO Catania also promotes the rights of children in hospital, organizes and provides initial and ongoing volunteer training, and takes part in ABIO’s National Day. Community groups, businesses, sports organizations and individual supporters help advance its activities through donations and fundraising. Based in Catania, ABIO Catania ODV shares news and updates through its website and social media, and invites people to support its work or become volunteers.
