ABIO Pesaro

ABIO Pesaro is a local association supporting children and families during hospital stays. Part of the wider ABIO network, founded in Milan in 1978, it has been active in Pesaro since 2001 and works with more than 50 volunteers. Its mission is to make hospital experiences more welcoming and less isolating for children and adolescents and to provide practical and emotional support to their families.

Volunteers welcome children when they are admitted, offer age-appropriate games, accompany them during visits and examinations, and help make hospital spaces more child-friendly. They also listen to parents, share useful information about ward services and routines, and help families manage everyday needs. ABIO Pesaro’s activities include a daily presence in hospital departments, volunteer training, initiatives to improve hospital environments, and community events that promote a culture of welcome.

The association invites people to volunteer, become supporting members, or donate to sustain its work. Through consistent presence, listening and collaboration, ABIO Pesaro aims to help children feel safer and more at ease in hospital.
