ABIO Roma is a nonprofit volunteer association dedicated to making hospital care more welcoming and child-friendly. Founded on February 1, 2001, as Associazione per il Bambino in Ospedale ODV, it promotes the humanization of hospitals and is affiliated with Fondazione ABIO Italia Onlus. The association has around 200 active volunteers who offer children and families a reassuring, friendly presence in hospital settings. Through care, play, support and listening, volunteers help make time in hospital more positive for young patients.
ABIO Roma invites people to become volunteers, with training provided through its volunteer courses. Individuals and businesses can also support the association through donations, membership, the Italian 5x1000 tax contribution, fundraising events and help raising awareness locally. Events such as dinners, markets and performances provide further opportunities to contribute. The association also develops projects aimed at creating environments suited to children. Based in Rome, ABIO Roma shares news, events and project updates through its website and newsletter, and welcomes support from the community.
