ABIO Udine – ODV is a volunteer organization founded in 2001 and part of ABIO, the Association for Children in Hospital. ABIO works in more than 200 hospital departments across Italy, welcoming and supporting children and young people during hospitalization. Its approach uses play, attentive listening, a reassuring presence and support for families to help make hospital experiences less traumatic.
In Udine, volunteers work in the pediatric department of Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital and collaborate with neonatology, the emergency department, pediatric outpatient clinics and the neuropsychiatry department at the Gervasutta rehabilitation hospital. The organization also develops projects for children and young people, including creative and musical initiatives and activities that bring new resources into pediatric care.
ABIO Udine invites people to become volunteers and offers several ways to support its work, including donations, solidarity certificates and the purchase of games. Its website shares news, a newsletter and project information, and provides resources such as the Charter of Children’s Rights in Hospital and materials for ABIO activities in schools.
