ABIO Vercelli ODV is a volunteer association supporting children and adolescents during hospital stays. Working in the pediatric department of Ospedale Sant’Andrea in Vercelli, its volunteers help make hospital settings more welcoming and responsive to young patients’ emotional and social needs. They provide a warm reception and act as considerate intermediaries between children and families and the hospital, working discreetly alongside healthcare staff.
ABIO Vercelli’s activities include helping create child-friendly wards, with colorful rooms, welcoming play areas, and toys and recreational materials for pediatric patients. The association also recruits and prepares volunteers through initial training courses and ongoing learning for those already serving. Its special projects aim to further humanize the hospital experience for children and their families.
The organization relies on support from individuals, businesses, companies, and institutions to carry out this work. Donations can help fund ward improvements, volunteer training, and other projects; supporters can also contribute through Italy’s 5x1000 tax designation.
