ABIO Verona

ABIO Verona OdV is a volunteer association supporting children, adolescents, and families during hospital stays. Founded in Verona in 2001, it works in pediatric wards, including those at the Woman and Child Hospital in Borgo Trento, to make hospital care more welcoming and less stressful. Trained volunteers offer a reassuring presence and help young patients engage through play, creative activities, and shared moments with families.

The association develops projects and resources that bring comfort and stimulation into the hospital environment. These include playrooms and game spaces, welcome backpacks, puppet shows, visits from costumed characters, and Harp-Abbraccio, a program combining music, drawing, and play. ABIO Verona also organizes volunteer training, community events, and fundraising initiatives to sustain its work, and takes part in the national ABIO day to raise awareness and connect with supporters. Its activities are supported by local organizations, businesses, and donors. As a nonprofit volunteer organization, ABIO Verona focuses on practical, compassionate support rather than commercial products or services, helping children and their families feel accompanied throughout their hospital experience.
