About Abolitionist Law Center
The Abolitionist Law Center is a public interest law firm dedicated to fighting against class and race based mass incarceration in the United States. Inspired by the struggles of political prisoners, they aim to abolish the American punishment system by litigating on behalf of those whose human rights have been violated in prison. In addition to legal advocacy, the center also educates the public about the injustices of mass incarceration and fosters a mass movement against it by building alliances and nurturing solidarity across social divisions.
The Abolitionist Law Center was founded in 2000 by Pennsylvania state prisoners and has since worked closely with the Human Rights Coalition and other allies in pursuing their mission of prison abolition and social justice. Recognizing that solitary confinement is a tool of terror, the center seeks to challenge the interconnected systems of oppression and replace them with healthy and liberating alternatives
