About ABOYERD
ABOYERD, which stands for Agriculture and Bio-conservation Organization for Youth Empowerment and Rural Development, is a grassroots nonprofit organization committed to promoting the protection of wildlife and their ecosystems in the Republic of Cameroon. As a legally registered Common Initiative Group, ABOYERD focuses on indigenous communities that are rich in biodiversity but often faced with poverty. The organization works towards conservation awareness by providing alternative livelihoods and implementing research-based strategies.
ABOYERD firmly believes that by collaborating and taking action in an innovative and democratic manner, they can achieve sustainable development, biological diversity conservation, and the ethical use of natural resources for both present and future generations. Their core values include environmental justice, animal welfare, and human welfare. In order to achieve their mission, ABOYERD engages in various activities such as scientific research, community-based environmental education, forest landscape restoration, sustainable community development, and advocacy within conservation priority areas.
