American Board of Pediatric Dentistry

The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD), established in 1940, is dedicated to ensuring high-quality oral health care for children, adolescents, and individuals with special needs. Initially organized by the American Society of Dentistry for Children, the board emphasizes excellence in pediatric dentistry through a rigorous certification process. ABPD offers a platform for dental professionals to become board certified, highlighting their commitment to lifelong learning and clinical proficiency.

The certification process includes a qualifying exam and an oral clinical examination, with policies for maintaining and renewing certification to ensure continual professional development. As a 501(c)(6) organization, ABPD is transparent about its financial operations, which can be accessed publicly through platforms like GuideStar. With a mission rooted in advocacy and education, ABPD collaborates with other organizations, such as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, to elevate standards in pediatric oral health care. Through initiatives and continuous support, ABPD strives to improve access and quality of care for all children.
