Abram Sculpture presents the work and artistic career of French sculptor André Abram, whose creations explore the relationship between humanity and the universe. Born in Paris in 1937, Abram studied drawing and sculpture in Paris and Bordeaux, later establishing his own studio. His practice is grounded in close observation of the human body and in forms that evoke shared, universal connections. Influences include cubism and the traditions of early peoples from Africa, Oceania and elsewhere, approached as part of his own intuitive artistic path.
Most of Abram’s works begin as models shaped in clay, which he regards as the pure act of creation. The forms are then cast in plaster and refined before being used to produce bronze sculptures.
