Abrigo dos Velhos Trabalhadores

Associação Protectora do Abrigo dos Velhos Trabalhadores is a nonprofit social welfare institution in Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal, dedicated to supporting older people in the local community. Founded in 1967, it aims to promote seniors’ well-being and quality of life through residential care, day services and support at home. Its residential facility provides accommodation, meals, personal and household hygiene, medical and nursing care, laundry, cultural and recreational activities, physical stimulation in a gym, and round-the-clock supervision. It also offers help accompanying residents to medical appointments and access to barber and hairdressing services.

The Centre for Day Care serves clients from Monday to Saturday, providing meals, personal care, laundry, recreational activities and secure storage for personal belongings. Home Support delivers meals and assistance with personal hygiene, light household cleaning, laundry and errands, alongside recreational activities; hygiene services are also available at the institution when a client’s home is unsuitable. The association’s approach emphasizes humane, fair and equal treatment, staff and community well-being, and partnership, while seeking to develop sustainable services responsive to clients, families and the wider community.
