ABSA (Advanced Behaviour Support Advisory Team) is an NDIS-registered behaviour support practice based in Melbourne, working across Victoria and beyond. Led by advanced behaviour support practitioners, ABSA takes a non-coercive, rights-based approach grounded in the biopsychosocial framework. The practice treats behaviour as a signal and seeks to understand the biological, psychological, social and environmental factors that may contribute to it, rather than relying on labels or generic strategies.

ABSA supports NDIS participants with complex presentations where behaviour may place the person or others at risk. Its services include comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, functional behaviour assessment, medical review coordination and referrals to GPs, psychiatry and allied health specialists. The team develops NDIS-compliant interim and comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support plans, provides guidance and training for support teams, and monitors outcomes. ABSA also works to reduce restrictive practices, including chemical, mechanical, environmental and physical restraint, through evidence-based alternatives such as skill-building and environmental changes.
