Abundance occupational therapy

Abundance Occupational Therapy is a clinic serving children and adults across the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads. Led by director and head occupational therapist Melanie Williamson, the practice supports people to reach their potential by addressing barriers that affect emotional, social and physical wellbeing. Its approach is holistic, inclusive, family-centred and neuro-affirming, with evidence-based interventions tailored to each person’s strengths, needs and goals.

For children, occupational therapy uses play and practical activities to build everyday skills, including dressing, bathing, toothbrushing and self-feeding. Therapy may also support emotional regulation, social interaction, and fine and gross motor development for play, extracurricular activities and learning. Services include individual and group sessions, assessments, and collaboration with families and other members of a client’s support team. Specialist programs include SOS Feeding Therapy for sensory and oral-motor challenges, DIR Floortime for emotional and social development, and the Secret Agent Society group program for social and emotional skills. The clinic begins with an enquiry and discussion, followed by an assessment and a customized therapy plan.
