ABYC

The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) is a marine-industry organization focused on improving boating safety through technical standards, professional education, and workforce development. For nearly seven decades, it has developed globally recognized standards covering boat design, construction, repair, and maintenance, helping industry professionals support safer, more reliable, and more enjoyable boating.

ABYC serves recreational boaters, educators, technicians, manufacturers, surveyors, dealers, and boatyards. Its offerings include an online Standards Library with search tools, standards-development resources, a compliance toolkit, and technical guidance from its department. Members can access industry information, marketing support, and a member directory.

The council also provides technician certification, recertification, live online classes, on-demand continuing education, and educational resources for schools and instructors. Its programs cover areas such as marine systems, electrical work, engines, and fuel systems. Additional services include school accreditation, a marine trades school directory, workforce-development initiatives, scholarships, and events, including webinars and USCG risk-mitigation sessions. ABYC also sells publications, resources, and apparel, and supports its foundation through donations.
