Academy Investor Network (AIN) is a brand that provides investment opportunities in venture-backed startups at the Seed stage. The network consists of veterans from the five U. S.
Military Service Academies who invest alongside AIN and offer their expertise in deal-sourcing, vetting, and post-investment support to the companies. AIN's primary focus is to work for the entrepreneur, aiming to fund and support startups. They are committed to leveraging their time and network to help startups succeed.
Only Service Academy graduates can invest in AIN, although they also accept accredited and, when feasible, non-accredited investors. A venture-backable startup for AIN is one that is scalable and capable of building, supporting, and defending its customer base. AIN supports veteran-led startups and civilian-led startups in the GovTech/Defense Tech space.
Joining AIN as an investor requires a referral from two fellow Service Academy graduates, and participation is free. AIN shares syndicate fees among participating members to keep costs as low as possible. AIN also offers Pro Rata Rights, allowing participants to invest in future rounds of the startups they support.
As a syndicate member, investing in every deal is optional, and access to all deals is available upon request within a specific timeframe. Potential investors should consider the risks associated with the investment, such as the inherent risks in venture capital investments, competition, market volatility, and general economic conditions. When considering a deal for investment, AIN ensures that all members receive the same information, promoting fairness and transparency.
They use Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for each investment, providing a structured approach to investing. AIN aims to make a positive impact on the future through their investments and the support they offer to startups. To become an AIN member, individuals must be graduates of one of the five U.
S. Military Service Academies, receive a referral from two current members, and participate as their interest and time permits
