About ACAP
ACAP, the Agreement on the Conservation of Albatrosses and Petrels, is a crucial multilateral agreement dedicated to protecting various species of albatrosses, petrels, and shearwaters. Established in 2004, ACAP brings together 13 Parties and several non-Party Range States to coordinate international efforts to safeguard these seabirds from known threats. With a focus on 31 listed species facing various risks like bycatch, habitat loss, and plastic pollution, ACAP plays a vital role in implementing conservation measures both on land and at sea.
ACAP's work includes reviewing population statuses, producing Species Assessments, and developing Conservation Guidelines to address threats and gaps in knowledge.
