Accademia Romanesca

Accademia Romanesca is a cultural association dedicated to preserving and sharing Romanesco, the dialect and cultural tradition of Rome. Its main purpose is to make the dialect accessible to everyone through the study and reading of works by notable Romanesco authors, both past and present. The academy supports learning and creative practice through courses in Romanesco writing, helping participants understand the conventions of writing the dialect and develop their poetic skills. It also holds poetry competitions, including opportunities for new members to join, and publishes selected poems and contributions in its online anthology.

Alongside its educational activities, Accademia Romanesca promotes Roman culture through public events, literary initiatives and collaborative projects involving poets, musicians, actors and writers. Examples include Roma in Rosa, which explores women’s themes through artistic work, and Roma in Versi, a walk through the city inspired by songs and poetry.
