AccelWater is a pioneering initiative dedicated to enhancing water efficiency within the food and beverage industry across Europe. With a robust framework comprising 17 partners from five countries, AccelWater aims to tackle the critical challenge of excessive freshwater consumption—addressing the fact that this sector utilizes an alarming 56% of available water for industrial and urban use.

The project's foremost objective is to implement advanced water reclamation, reuse practices, and AI-driven monitoring technologies, targeting a remarkable 30% reduction in freshwater consumption and a 20% decrease in waste production. AccelWater showcases four large-scale demonstrators spanning various sectors, including tomato, meat, and fish processing, to illustrate effective industrial symbiosis.

Through ongoing communication and dissemination efforts, AccelWater engages with key stakeholders, sharing valuable insights and outcomes from its extensive work packages. Supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, AccelWater signifies a commitment to sustainability and innovation in the food and beverage domain.
