Accessible Chair Yoga is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to improving quality of life by making yoga available to people of all ages and abilities, including those with physical or mental conditions that may limit movement. Its approach adapts yoga for seated practice, with adjustable postures that can be tailored to individual needs while retaining mindful movement, breathing and meditation.
The organisation offers chair and accessible yoga training for individuals and organisations, particularly those in yoga, healthcare, social care and fitness. Courses include teacher training, online professional development and further chair yoga skills. It also provides live online chair yoga classes, free classes and resources to support health and wellbeing. Organisations and care homes can enquire about training and services designed to bring chair yoga to residents and staff.
Accessible Chair Yoga also shares its expertise through the book Get Fit Where You Sit: A Guide to the Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga Method and sponsors research into yoga’s effectiveness in healthcare and social care settings.
