About The ACCESS Project UNDP
Accelerating Clean Energy Access to Reduce Inequality (ACCESS) is a project undertaken by UNDP Indonesia. The main purpose of this initiative is to create equitable and sustainable access to basic life services for people in various regions and countries. The project aims to tackle economic inequality by focusing on electrification, particularly in archipelagic countries like Indonesia. Despite the challenges faced in meeting the national target for electrification, ACCESS remains committed to providing equitable and sustainable access to basic services for improving livelihoods.
Implemented from 2020 to 2023, the ACCESS project will be executed in 23 villages across four provinces in Indonesia and 25 villages in three municipalities in Timor-Leste. It is financially supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency, with a grant totaling USD 18,028,509. The allocated funds will be used to establish solar-PV power plants, solar-PV water pumps, and highly efficient solar lamp systems (HESLS) in targeted areas.
Through these efforts, ACCESS aims to support poor and vulnerable communities by providing them with reliable access to basic services. By improving access to clean energy, the project seeks to reduce inequality and promote sustainable development in the regions it operates.
