About African Community Center for Social Sustainability
ACCESS Uganda is a community-based organization located in the rural district of Nakaseke, Uganda. Their mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals in resource-limited settings by providing medical care, education, and economic empowerment. With a focus on supporting orphans and vulnerable children, nursing and midwifery education, medical care, family planning, research, and global health, ACCESS works to create lasting change that is owned by the entire community.
Through partnerships and additional support, ACCESS has achieved remarkable results. They have successfully graduated 24 preschool children and currently support a total of 62. Additionally, they have provided scholastic materials to 420 primary and secondary school students. Their nursing and midwifery school has seen 98% of their graduates pass national exams with excellence, with many finding employment. ACCESS has also significantly expanded their medical care services, treating over 3,196 patients in 2018 and providing family planning services to over 29,000 clients.
Working with international partners, ACCESS has established income-generating projects and patient-centered care clinics for non-communicable diseases, benefiting over 400 patients. Their model has been adopted by the Uganda Ministry of Health and other partners in the field. ACCESS focuses on improving the health and wealth of women, supporting 170 families with income-generating projects and micro grants to alleviate poverty.
The organization maintains a strong connection with the community through the training and empowerment of 122 community health workers. They continue to welcome new partners and address emerging needs through research collaboration. Their impactful work has received recognition through both international and local awards. By supporting ACCESS, you contribute to their mission of creating sustainable social change and improving the lives of vulnerable individuals.
