Accidental Queens is a French video game development studio founded by three women from the games industry. The studio creates games that use innovative narrative tools and new mechanics to explore everyday experiences and social questions. Its approach reflects the belief that digital games can be entertaining while also communicating meaningful messages and social values to a broad, diverse audience.
The studio’s titles include Alt-Frequencies, an audio mystery built around a time loop. Players record, rewind time and broadcast excerpts from radio shows to expose the actions of radio hosts, conspiracy theorists and politicians. The game was co-produced with ARTE France. Accidental Queens also developed A Normal Lost Phone, in which players investigate the intimate life of an unknown person by exploring a phone they have found. Its spiritual sequel, Another Lost Phone: Laura’s Story, focuses on Laura’s social life. The studio offers information about its games and provides press materials, playtests and a newsletter. Its work combines interactive storytelling with subjects drawn from personal and social life.
