About Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy
ACEMP, the Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy, is a renowned not-for-profit organization founded in 2012 under the laws of Uganda. As a registered and reputable think tank, ACEMP focuses on Extractive Industries Policy, Research, and Advocacy. Their core mission is to promote good governance in the energy and mineral sectors.
ACEMP's work is aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, including the eradication of poverty, zero hunger, gender equality, climate action, industry innovation, and reduced inequalities. They firmly believe in the importance of a well-regulated Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) sector as an alternative and sustainable solution. The organization implements various projects and activities to achieve its objectives.
They strive to enhance transparency and accountability in Uganda's extractive sectors, encourage responsible mineral supply chains, and create a balance between pastoralism, agriculture, and mining in the Karamoja Region. ACEMP also produces annual scorecard reports to assess and rank performance in the petroleum and mineral development field. With their dedicated programs and projects, ACEMP aims to promote a transparent, organized, productive, and compliant extractive sector, ultimately contributing to sustainable development in Africa
