Acesso Cultura

Acesso Cultura is a Portuguese association dedicated to promoting physical, social and intellectual access to cultural participation. Its work supports the right of everyone to engage with culture and helps cultural organisations improve inclusion and accessibility. The association offers professional development through open courses, seminars and training for teams, as well as consultancy. It also provides resources and publications, including the Cultura Acessível website and a register of cultural professionals with disabilities.

Acesso Cultura brings people and organisations together through debates, an annual conference, a mentoring programme and Acesso Cultura Week. Its awards recognise initiatives that advance cultural access, including the Acesso Cultura – Mickaella Dantas Prize. The association also supports networks focused on accessible theatre programming, relaxed performances and inclusion in museums for people living with dementia. Through projects, partnerships and public advocacy, it contributes to discussions about accessibility across Portugal’s cultural sector. Acesso Cultura is a membership-based association, with income drawn from member contributions and services, and invites individuals and organisations to join its work.
