ACFODE (Action for Development) is a prominent women's interest organization in Uganda, dedicated to promoting gender equality and women's rights. With over three decades of experience, ACFODE has been a strong advocate for empowering women and girls, as well as eliminating all forms of violence against them. ACFODE operates through a well-structured leadership hierarchy.

The highest decision-making body is the General Membership, which elects the Board and collaborates with the secretariat on program implementation. The Board of Trustees acts as the guardian of the organization and oversees its operations, while the Board of Directors is responsible for policy development and implementation monitoring. The Secretariat, headed by the Executive Director, handles overall planning, resource mobilization, and policy implementation.

ACFODE's vision is to create a just society where gender equality is a reality. Their mission is to empower women, girls, and influence legislation and policies for gender equality in Uganda. The organization is guided by core values such as integrity, respect, learning, volunteerism, and teamwork.

ACFODE focuses on several organizational objectives, including increasing women's involvement in politics and decision-making, promoting good governance and democracy, defending and protecting women's rights, promoting gender-responsive policies, and capacity-building for vulnerable women. Additionally, ACFODE has strategic objectives that aim to influence policies, enhance leadership capacity, promote positive social-cultural practices, economically empower women and girls, and strengthen their own systems for efficient implementation of their mandate. With its commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, ACFODE plays a vital role in creating a more inclusive and just society in Uganda
