The Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana (ACGSI) is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of genealogical research in Allen County and its communities. Established in 1976, the society evolved from a Senior Citizen Genealogy Club into a publicly accessible organization focused on documenting the ancestry and historical records of the area. Members benefit from quarterly publications, such as "Allen County Lines," which provides valuable insights into genealogy.
ACGSI engages its members and the public through various initiatives, including seminars, monthly meetings featuring guest speakers, and workshops designed to enhance genealogical skills. The society's commitment extends to adopting projects for the publication of local cemetery records and creating resources to assist genealogists accessing the Allen County Public Library.
As a member of several prominent genealogical and historical organizations, ACGSI actively strives to stimulate interest in genealogy, support research efforts, and educate individuals about the rich traditions of family history. Its overarching purpose is to safeguard the genealogical and historical heritage of Allen County for future generations.
