About Achadinha
The Achadinha Cheese Company, located in Petaluma, California, is a family-operated ranch led by Jim and Donna Pacheco and their four children. With a tradition that started three generations ago in Achadinha, Portugal and Vallejo, California, Jim's parents ventured out on their own in 1969 and settled in Petaluma, where they continue to milk cows and goats to create their farmstead cheeses. In addition to their cheese-making operation, the Pachecos also raise beef cows, pigs, sheep, horses, chickens, dogs, cats, and ducks on their ranch.
The animals are pastured on 230 acres and are fed a balanced diet that includes brewers grain and yeast from local breweries, whey, and oat and alfalfa hay. Committed to sustainability, the ranch avoids using hormones or pesticides. The cheese produced by Achadinha Cheese Company varies in flavor from season to season, reflecting the natural diet of the animals.
