Achaina

Barefoot Hoof Care, operated by Achaina Inc., provides equine hoof-care services in Coventry, Connecticut. Kathy Coleman, a Certified Hoof Care Practitioner, offers barefoot trimming and rehabilitation for horses with hoof conditions, as well as support for transitions from shod to barefoot and ongoing maintenance of healthy hooves. Trimming clients are served on established routes, generally every four or five weeks, with availability for new clients dependent on location and schedule.

The practice addresses conditions including laminitis, navicular syndrome, negative palmar or plantar angles, contracted or under-run heels, thin soles, wall cracks and flares, white line disease, and thrush. Depending on the horse’s needs, care may include hoof boots, therapeutic casts, or padding for protection, comfort, and rehabilitation. Radiographs are encouraged to aid diagnosis, and Kathy is willing to coordinate care with a veterinarian. The practice emphasizes frequent trims, appropriate diet, and movement as part of supporting hoof health. Barefoot Hoof Care also sells and fits Scootboot hoof boots and shares resources and continuing-education information for horse owners.
