Achal-Tekkiner

Verein Freunde der Achal-Tekkiner Pferde Schweiz is a Swiss association dedicated to the preservation, breeding and promotion of the purebred Akhal-Teke horse. It also supports other Eurasian horse breeds, particularly the Karabakh. The association works to safeguard breed-specific characteristics while encouraging appropriate care and responsible handling of these distinctive horses.

Its activities include maintaining a breeding register, issuing horse documents and arranging access to information such as DNA testing and horse identification. Members can seek guidance on breeding, husbandry and training, and the association shares information about the Akhal-Teke with members and the public. It also represents members’ interests to the public, national organisations and authorities, and promotes international cooperation.

The association organises events and meetings, supports opportunities to see and learn about the breed, and publishes news, historical material, literature and photographs. Its website also provides information about Swiss breeders and horses for sale. Run through voluntary work, the organisation welcomes anyone interested in Akhal-Teke horses, whether or not they own one, and aims to provide friendly, transparent and affordable services.
