Achieving Beyond Brain Injury (ABBI) is a registered Canadian charitable foundation established in 2020 to support the pediatric stroke and acquired brain injury community. Founded by Nadine Vermeulen and Rebecca DiManno, whose sons experienced strokes, the organization grew from their shared experiences and commitment to creating positive change for families facing similar challenges. ABBIโs central initiative is its scholarship program, which supports Canadian survivors of pediatric stroke or acquired brain injury as they pursue their passions at college or university.
The foundation also celebrates scholarship recipients and shares their stories to recognize their courage, strength, and perseverance. Through its blog and awareness activities, ABBI highlights pediatric stroke and brain injury issues and community experiences. The organization raises support for its scholarship fund through donations and events, including annual golf tournaments that bring together participants, sponsors, and prize donors.
By combining educational opportunities, awareness, and community fundraising, ABBI helps survivors move forward and pursue meaningful goals beyond the effects of brain injury
