Açık Radyo, also known as Open Radio, is a unique radio station that has been broadcasting to the metropolitan Istanbul area and its surroundings since November 13, 1995. While it was founded as a private company to comply with the Turkish Law on Radio and TV Broadcasting, Açık Radyo functions more like a not-for-profit media organization. This collective, composed of 62 partners, aims to provide a free, independent, democratic, and compassionate platform for diverse voices.

The radio station prides itself on its independence from any interest group or capital group, as well as from the state itself. Açık Radyo upholds the principles of pluralist democracy, the rule of law, and the protection and promotion of universal human rights and fundamental freedoms. In a media landscape under increasing pressure, Açık Radyo stands as one of the few truly independent institutions in the Turkish media scene.
