About ACLU of Minnesota
The ACLU of Minnesota, founded in 1952 as the Minnesota Civil Liberties Union, is dedicated to protecting and extending civil liberties and civil rights for the people of Minnesota. Through litigation, lobbying, and community engagement, they strive to fulfill the promise of the Minnesota and United States Constitutions in safeguarding the rights and liberties of all individuals. The organization places particular emphasis on advocating for those who are marginalized or disfavored.
As a nonpartisan entity, the ACLU of Minnesota defends civil liberties regardless of political affiliation. Their values are centered around civil rights and liberties, equity, equality, justice, dignity, inclusion, member and community engagement, diversity, teamwork, and amplifying historically excluded and disenfranchised voices. They deliver their mission through litigation, community engagement, and lobbying, aiming to establish legal precedent, educate the public, and protect individual rights from government infringement.
