a Coda Alta GATA

Associazione A Coda Alta & G.A.T.A. ODV is a volunteer-led animal welfare organization in Ferrara, Italy, formed in January 2025 through the union of A Coda Alta and G.A.T.A. Its work brings together support for abandoned and stray cats with efforts to prevent feline straying, protect cat colonies, and promote animal health and welfare. Since 2013, the association has managed Ferrara’s municipal cat shelter, providing cats with care, assistance, and the opportunity to find safe, loving homes.

The organization offers adoption opportunities for kittens, adult cats, FIV-positive cats, and cats with disabilities, and encourages prospective adopters to meet animals at the shelter. It also supports orphaned kittens by recruiting volunteer foster carers, with weaning expenses covered by the association. Other ways to help include volunteering, membership, donations, contributing items to its permanent charity market, and taking part in fundraising and community events. The association also shares trusted cat-sitter contacts. Through its shelter services and community initiatives, it works toward a future with fewer abandoned cats and more opportunities for them to thrive.
