The Acronym Institute for Disarmament Diplomacy (AIDD) is a UK-based civil society organisation working on nuclear disarmament, global security, women, peace and climate justice. Established in 1994, it holds consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and engages with governments, parliamentarians and civil society internationally. AIDD advances its work through research, analysis, education, talks, presentations and publications, including articles, reports, books and diplomatic analysis.
Its priorities include ending reliance on nuclear weapons and supporting implementation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The organisation also works to address armed and gender-related violence, promote women’s participation in peace and security, and connect nuclear risks with climate concerns. AIDD collaborates with campaigners, NGOs and UN initiatives, including work supporting Women, Peace and Security efforts in Africa. Its resources document disarmament diplomacy and treaty developments, while its advocacy highlights the human and environmental impacts of weapons, nuclear testing and related activities.
