About ACTA
The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) is a national member-based trade association that represents the retail travel sector of Canada's tourism industry. With over 12,000 Travel Advisors across the country, ACTA's member agencies account for more than 80% of the travel business booked through a Travel Agency in Canada. ACTA's mandate is to advocate on behalf of its members with governments, regulatory agencies, and travel suppliers for the best interests of the retail travel sector and consumers.
ACTA provides effective leadership in matters affecting the retail travel industry, ensuring that Canadian consumers have access to professional, meaningful, and ethical travel counselling services. The association advocates, educates, promotes, and connects its members, elevating industry standards and professionalism through certifications, accreditations, and other learning opportunities. Formed in 1977 as the Alliance of Canadian Travel Associations, ACTA underwent a governance transformation in 1998-99 to become the national trade association it is today.
ACTA is owned by its members and is represented by seven regional councils across Canada
