ACTA, the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam, is a dental education, research and patient-care centre and a partnership between Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam. Its mission is to train dentists to care for people’s oral health and to conduct research that helps improve dental care. For patients, ACTA offers appointments, referral clinics, urgent help for dental pain, and oral care for vulnerable older adults. Its services also include orthodontic care for people up to age 17. Patients and referring professionals can find information about appointments, referrals and access to care.
ACTA provides a Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry, a Master’s degree in Dentistry and a Master’s programme in Oral Health Sciences. It also offers education for dental professionals, including hygienists, teachers and students. Research is another central part of the centre’s work, with information on featured studies, scientific publications, experts, doctoral research and contract research and knowledge transfer.
