About ACTADE
The African Centre for Trade and Development (ACTADE) is a renowned organization dedicated to promoting trade and sustainable development in Africa. Established in November 2000, ACTADE emerged as a domestic and indigenous voice in trade discussions dominated by international actors. Their primary objective is to influence and facilitate the development and promotion of trade, offering innovative policy ideas and alternatives to address both short and long-term public policy challenges in the ever-changing global, regional, national, and local contexts.
ACTADE focuses on various programs to achieve its mission. Their Participatory Budgeting program emphasizes inclusive budget formulation and implementation. In Trade Empowerment, they actively promote the development of domestic trade in Uganda.
Meanwhile, their Climate Change Action program explores effective tools to reduce the country's vulnerability to climate change. By partnering with organizations like Plan International Finland and Engineers Without Borders, ACTADE has been able to make significant contributions in areas such as sexual reproductive health, renewable energy, and addressing migration driven by climate change.
