About ACTEC
ACTEC, or The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, is a prestigious nonprofit organization comprised of experienced lawyers and law professors specializing in trust and estate law. The organization is dedicated to improving and reforming probate, trust, and tax laws, as well as promoting professional responsibility within the field. ACTEC members, known as Fellows, possess exceptional skills and outstanding reputations.
To qualify for membership, a lawyer must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in active probate and trust law or estate planning practice. Fellows are elected based on their contributions to the field through lecturing, writing, teaching, and participation in legal bar activities. With over 2,400 members practicing in the United States, Canada, and other countries, ACTEC offers a wealth of expertise and knowledge in the areas of wills and trusts, estate planning, and probate procedure.
Fellows receive a subscription to ACTEC Law Journal and have access to a range of resources and updates in trust and estates law. Additionally, ACTEC hosts an annual meeting held at a resort hotel, alternating between the East and West Coasts. For attorneys and law professors dedicated to upholding the highest standards in trust and estate law, ACTEC provides a valuable network and ongoing professional development opportunities
