About ACT International & Luna
ACT International, formerly known as Luna Children's Charity, is an organization dedicated to providing training and tools to communities for treating children with trauma and PTSD. It was founded in 2008 by Dr. Carlotta Raby, a psychotherapist and psychologist.
After witnessing the need for a child-centered approach to trauma therapy in post-genocide Rwanda, Dr. Raby developed the Children's Accelerated Trauma Technique (CATT). This technique helps children from ages 3 to adulthood break free from the cycle of traumatic memories.
ACT International delivers training through experienced psychologists and therapists who volunteer their time, in collaboration with local partner organizations. The aim is to empower local individuals, including teachers, nurses, and aid workers, to effectively treat children suffering from psychological trauma in their communities. With a focus on areas lacking mental health professionals, ACT International's training is designed to equip appropriate adults with the necessary skills.
