Action For Community Ltd is a community-focused organisation whose Bradford Volunteer Doulas service provides short-term, person-centred support to birthing people and families across the Bradford District. The service is centred on trained volunteer doulas, who offer informational and emotional support during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Support is tailored to each family, with a standard offer generally beginning six weeks before birth and continuing through labour and for six weeks after birth.
Depending on volunteer availability, help may be provided in person or over the phone. The service can also lend birthing balls and car seats, and works with other organisations to provide food parcels and care packages. Action For Community Ltd shares information about who the doulas are, how the service works and how families can access support.
The organisation also offers a route for people to train as volunteer doulas and apply to volunteer, with related training information, FAQs and policies available through its website
