About Action Ireland Trust
Action Ireland Trust is a registered charity dedicated to making a positive impact in Lesotho, a country in southern Africa. Founded in 2011 by Niall Fitzgerald and Fran Whelan, the charity works in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Health, Ministry for Sport, Culture and Gender Equality, and UNICEF to implement a variety of development programs. These programs include building feeding centers, crèches, and orphan housing, as well as providing education, healthcare training, and IT training.
Action Ireland Trust also works on sustainable projects such as water and sanitation initiatives, planning and development, and mapping projects. The charity relies on the efforts of dedicated volunteers, including up to 100 individuals from various trades and careers, as well as 40-50 transition year students from Portmarnock Community School. Their goal is to enhance the lives of the people in Lesotho through education, skills transfer, and community development.
