Argentina es un país con más de 2,5 millones de kilómetros cuadrados de extensión y una población aproximada de 44 millones de habitantes concentrada en apenas un puñado de ciudades. La Telemedicina es una herramienta de amplia difusión en todo el mundo que -mediante prácticas de diagnóstico, tratamiento, prevención, educación y monitoreo de poblaciones vulnerables- comienza a brindar soluciones a los problemas de inequidad social, falta de acceso y de calidad a los servicios de salud que las ciencias médicas del siglo XXI imponen. Frente a esta inminente transformación, en 2017 se conforma ACTRA, una asociación joven formada por entidades de salud agrupadas para difundir y consolidar la práctica de la Telemedicina.
