About Adaptation Consortium
The Ada Consortium (ADA) is a brand that supports county governments in integrating climate change into their development and planning strategies. They do this through the County Climate Change Fund (CCCF) mechanism, which empowers communities to prioritize investments that enhance their resilience to climate change. The CCCF mechanism focuses on climate change adaptation, community resilience, and sustainable economic growth.
Initially piloted in Isiolo County, the fund has now expanded to other Arid and Semi-Arid counties such as Garissa, Kitui, Makueni, and Wajir. With the support of various partners, ADA has also scaled up the CCCF mechanism to counties like Narok, Kwale, Siaya, Kisumu, and more. They have enacted CCCF legislations, established Climate Change Planning Committees, and strengthened county monitoring and evaluation systems.
ADA collaborates with governmental and non-governmental organizations to align their work with national policies. Funding for the CCCF mechanism has come from organizations like the Embassy of Sweden, UKAid, World Bank, and others. With a bottom-up approach and a focus on stakeholder engagement, ADA aims to ensure robust and resilient development in Kenya in the face of climate change
